Yes, "it's" a "she"

Trust me, I'm as surprised as anyone! I believe I did a double-, make that triple-take when the technician told me.

This one has me almost completely turned off food (at least for the moment) but addicted to grapefruit juice. I drank five glasses the other day. Then I read the calorie count...130 calories/glass. Also over 100% of your vitamin C. So how did I get sick? Now I'm trying not to drink more than 2 glasses a day.

This one has me vomiting a couple of times a week still. With the boys, second trimester meant the golden era of pregnancy. She's already demonstrating some of the differences between the sexes, huh?

This one has me wanting this shirt in a bad way. I just wish it came in a color other than pink!

Carlos is over-the-moon excited about this little girl. We've had a girl name picked out since before we knew Jake was a boy so at least that part is out of the way. We can talk to her everyday and call her by name. And she most definitely gets daily conversation with at least one of us.

I'm dreaming of spring. Ogling the Burpee catalog daily trying to decide what I want to grow this year. I have a black thumb so I know I need to start small. I'm thinking just some small herb plants on our deck this year. The tomatoes are calling my name though. And maybe just a couple flowers. (I clearly have no willpower and should not even try to limit myself.)

And this boy has a way with paper and scissors. Notice a resemblance? (probably not if you haven't seen Kill Bill before. And if you haven't, you should! And no, Jake has NOT seen Kill Bill...the resemblance is purely coincidental...we're pretty lenient about the content they see but Kill Bill is a little too liberal for a 5 year old :p)

  2. Hi Erica! So nice to see you back in the blogging world ... I missed you! :). And coming back with such big wonderful news of a pink blessing!! How cool is that? You're looking cute as can be too!

    Sorry that you're feeling awful!

Any little tiny girly items being knitted yet?

As for your plantings ... you're right, start small. I'm going to do a few herbs this year, you can do them in pots or just throw them into you planting beds. Basil gets really big! As for flowers, I have two big terra cotta pots in the front of our house and I limit myself to those and then I grab a few hanging baskets from Costco. Seriously, come July and 100+ temps, it's all I can do to water those four things, LOL.

I don't know if that was helpful at all, HA, I think I was just rambling.

Anyway, happy day to you ... hoping little miss gives you a break soon (but probably not for about 18 years!!).

  3. i don't normally comment -- but congrats on the girl. As the mom of 2 boys and having just recently given birth to a girl (jan 15th) i can honestly say it's different, but oh so fun!!!! enjoy. and for the dad's it's quite special.

That may be the coolest tee ever. Maybe you'll want to donate it to one of your chubby friends when you are done with it...
And if you want to grow something that you can't kill, grow zucchini. Tomatoes are also good, but don't start from seed. It's an exercise in futility.

yea! I'm so happy for you. :) I love pink and I love girly stuff, which is a good thing because we have plenty "around these here parts". Of course, I wasn't sick with Jenna, but I've heard from numerous friends that they were very sick with their girls and not with their boys. Weird.

I'm so so happy for you!
I was sicker with the girls but not at all with Johnny....and with him, I drank a TON of OJ......perhaps our bods were used to carrying one sex, then decided to give us signs of a different sex for the 3rd? :)
Love the shirt, love the picture, love the pink :)
    And love Jake's creativity!

  9. YAY! A girl is sooooo awesome! I love my little girl - she is such a sweetheart (with a lot of spice!).

I grow herbs every summer - most of them are super easy except I don't always have luck with basil - it doesn't like too much water and it always ends up raining like crazy here in May/June so it dies.

I recommend trying a smaller type of tomatoes for your first try (and definitely not from seed - I always get some plants from a greenhouse) like cherry or grape tomatoes. I haven't had any luck with beefsteak or other big tomatoes. My Grandma grows them beautifully every year but she tends them far more than I do and knows how to start them better than I do.

A lot of it depends on your zone though. I don't know what your summers are like. It's fun though - I love gardening, just wish we had a place to do it! We rent so I only do pots every year and have had a lot of luck with tomatoes and herbs!

  10. He he, love that shirt!! If you are planing to go with seeds you should go to Bordines, they have them all 50% off for the whole month of Feb. Good deal! And I am itching for spring too...when will it get here!?
Congrats again on your little miss :)

ok I am over the moon that you're having a baby of the female presusion (sp) simply because I can't wait to see what kind of pages, cards, embellies you create E. What a lucky little girl she is. I see lots of spoiling in her future from the boys...

Ack! Congratulations! You found out! And that is sooo cool! But I'm sorry to hear you are still sick. Maybe I need to send you some Chinese stuff. Whatever that might be. But I just wanted to type that. Yeah. I'm helpful that way.

BTW, Kill Bill is a tad too much for a five year old. But maybe Enter the Dragon? Although there were no crazy mustache/longhair/beard man in it.

I'd suggest basil to start. And tomatoes are easy. Get the plants to start with. Forget the seeds. Highly overrated.
